The College of the Florida Keys held its sixty-third Commencement Exercises for the fall class of 2021 on Tuesday, December 14 in the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the Key West Campus. Thirty-three graduates donned new blue and orange graduation attire to receive their diplomas.
Friends, employees, and board members of The College of the Florida Keys brought dozens of new toys for local children to CFK’s annual Caribbean Holiday Party on December 9, hosted by CFK President Dr. Jonathan Gueverra and his wife Josephine. The toys were then donated to Samuel’s House, a Keys-based non-profit organization that offers housing and supportive services for homeless women and intact families.

The College expects to award a combined total of 79 credentials, including bachelor’s degrees, associate degrees, and certificates, to the fall class of 2021.
$100 Kick-Starter Scholarships; Application fees waived The College of the Florida Keys will hold “Fast Track to Spring” events the week of November 29- December 3 to help prospective students quickly get on a pathway toward their academic and career training goals this upcoming spring semester, which begins January 7. There will be in-person events at the Key West Campus on Wednesday, December 1 at 5:30 p.m. and at the Upper Keys Center in Key Largo on Thursday, December 2 at 5:30 p.m. Additionally, personal virtual sessions are available throughout the day, Monday, November 29 through Friday, December 3.
Students at The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) took part in a global initiative called Dive Against Debris, led by the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) Aware Foundation, to remove trash from the ocean. On Thursday, the students boarded the FKCC 2, the College’s catamaran, to travel to their selected clean-up site, the Cayman Salvage Master shipwreck south of Key West. They dove depths of 75- to 90-feet to collect a trash bounty that weighed in at 120 lbs.

Students at The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) took the Halloween tradition of carving pumpkins to a new level— deep below the water’s surface in the College’s dive training lagoon on the Key West Campus on Wednesday. The CFK Student Activities department hosted the event for students to create jack-o’-lanterns underwater as well as on dry land.
The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) held a graduation ceremony for two academies completed through its Institute for Public Safety (IPS) on October 22 at the Key West Campus. A total of 21 cadets—14 in a basic law enforcement academy and seven in a correctional officer academy—successfully completed their respective training program.

The College of the Florida Keys (CFK) will hold a virtual event for Monroe County high school students and their parents/ guardians to learn more about its Dual Enrollment and Early College opportunities on Wednesday, October 27 at 5:30 p.m. Through both programs, high school students can simultaneously earn college and high school credits at no cost to the student. The programs provide a head start to college for students while potentially saving families thousands of dollars. At the virtual events, CFK will discuss the benefits of each program, requirements to participate, and the application process.
